How is your connection with God?

8/22/2021

Recently I experienced a time when the internet was unavailable and was not able to do my job. I knew there was a lot to be done and no way to do it. I grew anxious and the longer I went without being able to do my job the more restless and anxious I became.

Later, God showed me that this is how we should feel if we ever do something that pulls us away from Him. He wants us to talk with Him every day, more than once a day. Plus, He desires that we listen to Him as well.

When we do something that we need to ask forgiveness for and do not ask God to forgive us we need that “anxious” feeling, that restlessness to remind us that our connection with God needs to be attended to. We, as Christians, need the peace that comes from God for our everyday life.

If you are not in-tune with God, you cannot be the best you that you can be, which is what He wants for us. If your Christian walk leaves you wanting more it is time to call the “repairman” and get that closeness back or even get it for the first time.

When things are right between you and God, you and God can do amazing things together. You are connected to Him, and He gives you peace, joy, love, and a desire to do His will in all things.

Heavenly Father, I ask that you help everyone that reads this get a solid connection with You. One, so strong that the daily struggles of life cannot severe or destroy. One that continues to grow stronger on a daily basis. Amen.

How do we respond to the Great Command and the Great Commission?

7/18/2021

Recently, I heard a sermon on the purpose of the church. The pastor read Matthew 22:37-40, which is what we call the Great Command and Matthew 28:19-20 which is the Great Commission.

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Matthew 22:37-40

If everyone on the earth would live by these four verses this world would be a whole lot better off than it is today. However, since the devil talked the serpent into enticing Eve to eat of the forbidden fruit and then Eve giving it to Adam who willingly partook of it. It has not been that way. What we need to ask ourselves is: Do I follow and obey these four verses? If not, maybe we should start doing the command of Jesus as written in them.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:19-20

These verses will also change the world if every believer of God would live by them. I know that not all are missionaries, however, do we support our missionaries by praying for them and supporting them financially?

Let us get a little closer to home. Have we gone to our neighbors, our co-workers, our friends, and our families and talked to them about their need of salvation? Do we even know how to lead someone to a one-on-one relationship with Jesus, His Father, and the Holy Ghost? Has it been so long that we have forgotten how to do it? Maybe we need to get into our prayer closet and ask God to give us a fresh desire to spread His word to those we see daily.

Camp Meeting 2021 – Tuesday Night

7/11/2021

Brother Troy Slagle preached on Genesis 2:15-17 and 3:3-6; 1 Corinthians 15:45-48

He brought out that God made man and how the woman was used to bring about the downfall of mankind. It was not the serpent that brought Adam’s fall from grace; it was who used the serpent, the being we call the Devil, or Lucifer. And just as he used the serpent, he used the woman, later known as Eve, and just as he uses so many people today.

One aspect of Tuesday night service that I have not experienced in many years was the tag team effect. My father used to watch wrestling on the television and every so often they would have “Tag Team Night” where there were two people on each team and only one at a time was allowed in the ring. This is what we experienced that night: TAG TEAM PREACHING. Brother Slagle preached for awhile then turned the microphone over to Brother Gibbs, then preached some more and turned it over to Brother Royce Casey who preached, and Brother Slagle preached some more and turned it over to Brother Gary Wingrove, then finished the sermon.

To show the wonder of letting God take over a service they all preached on the same thing, simply different parts and aspects of the main theme. I wish you all could have been there to see God in action. Adam was where we get our earthly thoughts and actions and Jesus is where we get our Heavenly thoughts and actions. We have problems when we do not let Jesus rule our lives.
