Wisdom and Understanding

3/13/2022

Proverbs 4:4b-7

… keep my commandments, and live. Get wisdom, get understanding: Forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: Love her, and she shall keep thee. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: And with all thy getting get understanding.

These words were written by King Solomon and they speak a truth that most people do not follow and sometimes I think that they do not understand them.

When you talk to people today about getting wisdom and understanding they automatically think about school, however this means so much more. It means from our birth to our death. We should always strive for the wisdom of God.

Dear Heavenly Father, give to Your children then hunger for Your wisdom and understanding above and beyond that learned from our parents and our teachers. Give us a hunger and a desire to see you, Father, and the home you have prepared for us. Amen.

Thank God for His Blessings

3/6/2022

I have been reading John Hagee’s “The Power of the Prophetic Blessing” this week amid my travels, while helping my descendants. While talking to them independently they both agreed that God blesses us even in our worst times and tribulations. If we look for God’s blessings, we will find them.

Just suppose that you have a wreck on your way to go shopping, it totals your car and puts you in the hospital. Most people focus on the fact that their car is totaled, and they are in the hospital. Then they are more apt to state that God was not watching over them and thus they miss all the blessings that they received and are miserable and angry at God.

Now you take that same situation, instead of seeing the bad your eyes are upon God and how much He blesses us on a daily basis you then focus on how your car was totaled and not your life. How God placed a person there that knew first aid and had a phone to call the police and ambulance and you received medical attention which will make your medical problems not last as long. Not only are you in a better frame of mind, which improves your healing, you have now become a witness for the benefits of being a Child of God.

As my granddaughter told me; someone was there at just the right time and in the right place in her time of trouble to help her. Then she went over the events and thanked God for having all those people in the right place to protect her. Isn’t God good to His children. You could just see how much God loves His children.

As my family has learned to see how God works in our lives, we have come to call this, “It’s a God Thing” and when we hear that phrase, we all give thanks to God for His protecting hand on us and our lives.

Do you look for God’s help in your life and then thank God for being there for you?

2 Samuel 22:50 … I will give thanks unto thee, O Lord …

1 Chronicles 16:8 Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.

1 Chronicles 16:34 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

Psalm 18:49 Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O Lord, among the heathen, and sing praises unto they name.

I do believe

2/27/2022

There are many things that I believe and one of the most important is "God answers prayer." When we are a child of God and we pray with faith that God will answer our prayers, they will be answered by one of three ways.

1. YES - you will receive what you are praying for

2.No - you will not recieve it for one of several reasons, such as: a. you are not mature enough to handle that answer; b. you are asking amiss; and the list could go on.

3. Wait - this is really the hardest answer, since we seem to be the generation of "When I want it, I want it NOW and not later.

In my lifetime I have had many prayers answered and they have been answered in all three ways. Sometimes the answers come and sometimes they come as Paul heard from god and I am paraphraseing it "I heard your prayer, I sent the answer and something hindered or delayed it."

So do not stop praying for what you need until you get it or hear from God that the answer is no.

Here is an article that I have recently read and felt like passing it on from The Foundations of Truth. May God use it to minister to your heart.

The Great Commission or Church Growth

2/20/2022

I received an email the other day and it really set me to thinking about our Association and our Local Churches. You can read the article/email content by following the link below.

It talks about the reasons that we want to add to our Association/Church. Do we do it because we want new faces or so that we can brag about the number we have or because God wants us to add to His followers? On a personal level we have to follow the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) where Jesus, Himself, states that we are to “teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” and so the question is are we wanting to add to our association/Church because of what Jesus said or for other reasons.

Yes, we want our church and our association to grow in number for several reasons:

  1. To be in line with the teaching of Christ
  2. To further God’s Kingdom
  3. To ensure the continuation of our church and association

If we do not obey our Heavenly Father, His Son our Heavenly Brother and the Holy Ghost our guide. Where is our eternal soul going to be? Heaven or Hell? If we do not work to further the Kingdom of God, where does that put our soul?

Finally, in regards to our churches and our association. If we do not work to build them with godly people then they will eventually die or close for lack of people.

In conclusion, if we follow the teaching of Christ Jesus, we will further God’s Kingdom which means our churches will continue as well as our association.

I encourage you to follow the instruction of Christ so His work can be completed here on Earth.

Are you a "FAN" for Christ?

2/13/2022

Today is Super Bowl Day for the football fans. If we could take that enthusiasm that they have for their favorite team and instill it in every Christian – where would the World be today? It would not be as full of sin (hatred, murders, war and fear) that we see and hear about every day.

As I was reading one of my favorite websites today I saw an article that I want to share with you and have the permission of the author to do so.

OUR GAME PLAN FOR CHRIST

Athlete. Game plan. How we’re going to make it to the top.

Youth today idolizes sports stars, hoping to make it good in the footsteps of their idols.  One of the most legendary athletes out there is Michael Jordan from the coastal plains of North Carolina.

Sure, we know of his outstanding success, a basketball player with a fearsome drive and appetite for success, but do we know the other Michael?

Read this quote from the sports-meister:

“I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game-winning shot, and I missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

In high school, Jordan was cut from his school’s basketball team during his sophomore year.

Not good enough.

Not the sport for you.

Wait until you grow, kid, then we’ll think about it.

Even from the start, he had to overcome defeat. Yet, Jordan says it was those moments of failure, of humiliation, that drove him to find his success.

The Christian who struggles can find inspiration in Jordan’s outlook on life. Look to Proverbs 16:3.

“Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

Jordan learned early on that success is getting back up and giving it another shot. When we stumble in our Christian walk, we’re not a failure. We’ve learned one more thing that will help us become a better Christian tomorrow.

Recommit to Christ. Renew your connection to him. Jesus wants you to find success in him. Take his hand and let him lead you along the way.
