Camp Meeting 2021 – Monday Night

7/4/2021

Brother Dan Gibbs preached on Psalms 91:6-10

The chapter starts out in verse one with He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. So those who are saved, lives in the secret place of God, can take verses six through ten and live by them.

With our faith placed in our Heavenly Father we do not have to worry or focus on what is happening around us, pandemic, wars, rioting in the streets, elected officials coming against us or the lack of being able to attend our church. This does not mean that all Children of God will not be affected by any of the things going on in this world, remember that Jesus, Himself was afflicted by those in power while He walked among man. It means that we are to take our eyes off what is going on around us and place them on the one person who is in control – God.

When we focus on God Almighty, the world around us does not have the ability to take our peace away. Yes, we might lose some of the ones that we love, however it means we will have the knowledge that Jesus understands what we are going through and will be with us as we go through it.

I do like what Brother Gibbs said toward the end of his message. We all need to build up our faith by praying every day until we have spent some time praying in the Holy Ghost. Remember, the Holy Ghost knows how we should pray, what we should be praying for, and He knows how to explain it all to God so much better than we do.

What do you know about Israel's 6 Day Way?

6/27/2021

Many years ago, God was talking to a man, Abraham, and He promised Abraham that He would always take care of his descendants. If you follow the lineage of Abraham you will see that God has kept them from extinction.

Tim Barton has a set of six CD’s called Against all Odds Israel Survives about the miracles that God has preformed on the behalf of Israel during the Six Day War. I watched them over six years ago and when I found a quiz called The Miraculous War of 1967 and took it.

Psalms 122:6 reads: Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. I wonder how many Christians pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for God’s chosen people. How many Christians even know what the Israelites are going through in our time?

Go to this link if you are interested in knowing ten things about the Six Day War, or the war that put the Jewish people in control of their own country.

I only got three out of the ten questions because I have only been interested in the religious side and not the political side of the war.

Lord Jesus, touch each one that reads this article with a desire for a closer walk with you and a burden to pray for your peole around ther world. Amen.

What you should leave behind.

6/20/2021

In this series, I have mentioned the problems about leaving your witnessing tools behind and the people you have left behind. Today I want to mention what we should leave behind. Just as there are some things we should not leave behind there are some things that has to be left behind to be the witness that God wants us to be.

Things such as anger, hate, and jealousy are just the tip of the iceberg so to speak. We each have personal traits that should be left behind which I think of as personal sins and then there are the Biblical sins that everyone must leave behind. If it is listed in the Bible that we should not do it, it is what I call a Biblical sin.

The first list is found in the Old Testament in Exodus 20:3-17, which we call the Ten Commandments. We must remember that they are not suggestions, they are commandments from God, our Heavenly Father. Then in the New Testament there are several lists of things that will keep you out of Heaven.

Romans 1:28-32 is one list and verse twenty-eight starts a list that includes: covetousness, murder, deceit, haters of God, proud, without natural affection and unmerciful to name a few.

To read several lists of people that will not make Heaven their eternal home and find out some characteristics that we all must leave behind look up these passages of scripture:

Matthew 7:21-23; I Corinthians 6:9-11; Galatians 5:19-21; Colossians 3:5-9; and Revelations 21:8

Heavenly Father, help us to recognize the things in our lives that need to be left behind so that we will make it to Heaven to be with You. Show us the things that You find unpleasant in our daily walk so that we might make it right in Your sight and be able to spend eternity with You in Heaven. Amen.

Who have you left behind?

6/13/2021

Last week I wrote about what we left behind, which got me to thinking about who we left behind. If we do not lead those that we meet to Christ Jesus, were they all followers of Christ? Or did we leave some behind? These are some of the questions that kept coming to my mind. The main question to ask ourselves and God is: Who have I not witnessed to?

We all want our family and loved ones to go to Heaven with us, however, have we always lived a godly or holy life before them? Or have we fell short on our mission from God? When our unsaved family watches our lives, what do they see?

We are all suppose to live Christ-like lives all the time. How? By living each moment as if the next moment we will be seeing Jesus. Why, you ask? Because a sinner is watching your life, even in church. We are to honor God and live our life the way that we would if God were walking right beside us all the time. Because He is. He knows everything about us, what we do, where we go and what we say. Would you change your plans if Jesus knocked on your door and said He was going to follow you around today?

If we all were to live a life that acted upon the concept of not leaving anyone behind. God would have to enlarge Heaven and shrink Hell, instead of Him having to enlarge hell so every sinner will fit. We would have to open more churches and build our present churches bigger.

Precious Heavenly Father, thank you for the reminder of why we are here. Thank you for Your love. I ask you, Lord God, to spark a hunger and desire to spread Your Holy Word to those around us. Help us to live the life that honors You. Amen.

What have you left behind?

6/6/2021

The other day I drove over one hundred miles to help get things ready for our Camp Meeting 2021. I worked until I was worked out (have not built my endurance up enough) and so I gathered my things for departure. Over an hour later I stopped to get a bite to eat. That is when it came to my attention that I had left something behind.

I did not leave it behind on purpose, it was by accident. It was something that I needed for the next day. Therefore, I turned around and drove back to get it. At that point I found that I had left something else behind, this item could have been left behind with no problem. However, it was put in my vehicle anyway.

During my extra two hours of driving, God showed me how easy it is for us humans to leave the important things behind and sometimes they are left behind until it is too late. More importantly, we Christians are doing the same thing with even more damage than what I did that day.

We Christians are leaving our missionary skills behind. More Christians are doing this and how I know is that the world is getting in worse shape day by day. If we, as Christians had remembered to witness to those around us, how many more people would know Jesus as their personal Savior?

Are you leaving behind the opportunities to lead the lost for Christ? Are you leaving behind the tools (Bible study, daily prayer, the ability to show love to strangers, and many more.) at home, or church? Are you leaving behind, maybe never picked it up the first time, your desire to follow the teachings of Jesus?

Dear Heavenly Father, help us all to remember that we are to be fishers of men and that we need to bring our tools with us everywhere we go. Help us to remember we flourish when we pray and read our Bible daily so that we will have our tools handy and not be slack in using them. Amen.
