God can use you

While going through my computer looking for something which I did not find, I came across this. It seems to hit upon a lot of excuses that people use as to why they cannot do anything for God. If God can use these types of people – God can use you. There was no author listed in 2007.

What happened between Good Friday and Easter

Today is Easter Sunday. When I was growing up people tried their best to have new clothes for Easter. Today, some people follow that tradition from years past. It matters not if we have new clothes to wear or if we have old clothes. What matters to God is that you asked Jesus to save your soul so that on resurrection morning we will come before Him in robes of white.

Recently, I had someone ask me the question; what happened between Good Friday and Easter? I thought for a little bit about how to explain it where it would be easy to understand without all the theological words that a lot of people might not be able to understand without having to look them up in a dictionary.

Good Friday represents the day that Jesus died on the cross for our sins so that we might spend eternity in Heaven with Him. Easter represents the day that Jesus arose from the dead. Saturday represents the time that Jesus went to talk to the souls in Paradise to give them a chance to go the Heaven.

Because Jesus went through this experience, I want to extend to you a chance to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior so that you can spend eternity with Him.

Romans 3:23 states; “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Therefore, Jesus came and died so that your sins can be forgiven.

C.I. Wilson

Jesus, I want to thank You for being willing to leave Heaven and come to earth to live as a human for some thirty-three years and then die a cruel death so that we can ask forgiveness of our sins and spend eternity in Heaven with you. Heavenly Father, thank you for the sorrow you felt when Your Son, Jesus, was hanging on the cross. I ask that you draw each person who reads this to You so that they might go to Heaven. Amen

A Certain Poor Widow

Mark 12:42-44

And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

Here it is, Palm Sunday, the day that represents Jesus being ushered into Jerusalem on a colt, people throwing palm leaves on the ground before him. They welcomed Him, not for who He was, it was for what Jesus could do for them. Like so many people today, they wanted to get more than they wanted to give. We want to go to church at our convenience and for what we can get out of going. Some people actually go to worship the Holy Trinty. Others go so they can be seen, they give so that others will think, “wow, look at what they gave.”  How many of us actually ask Jesus how much we should give?

So many people state that the Bible says to give 10% and that is all they give, and not one penny more. Here in these verses, we see where God is pleased when we give more than the 10%, because then we are giving more than what is required.

Years ago, I heard of one denomination that gave every church member a box of offering envelopes with the amount printed on them that was to be given. God does not do us that way. He wants us to give willingly and not because we have to. Am I saying that we are to give our all? Not unless God tells you to. If you give because someone states you are to give a certain amount, then you are not giving what God wants you to.

C.I. Wilson

Precious Lord, I ask that You talk to Your children about what they are to give. Not just money, but their time as well. Bless those who give willingly to You of their time and finances. Lay upon us the desire to ask what You would have us to do, to gi

Do you have the right tools?

While getting ready to plant a garden this year, I noticed that someone had borrowed my shovel. I looked around and found my grandchildren’s shovel and thought to myself that I could use it. It wasn’t more than two minutes later that I realized that it would take so much longer and not be done right using the wrong tool.

How many Christians today do not get the tools they need to be effective workers for God? Are you one?

When we present to the world that reaching the lost is not important enough for us to be prepared to reach them then they will think it is not important enough for them to become a Christian. The Bible states that we are saved to go out and win the lost for Christ.

Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labouts.

John 4:34-38 KJV

C.I. Wilson

Precious Son of God, You came to earth and gave us the tools we need, help us today to use those tools the best way. For without those tools and the knowledge to use them, we cannot do the work that You gave us. Thank You for helping us do the work of the Father. Amen

Are you Passionate for Christ Jesus?

Passion

Merriam-Webster - a strong liking or desire for or devotion to some activity, object, or concept. a passion for chess. a passion for opera.

The other day I was talking to someone, and she mentioned that the pastor had asked what a good topic for the next week’s Sunday School lesson might be. She mentioned “The Passion of God,” not the passion of Christ. Later as I was pondering on that subject, God asked me, what was my passion? The longer I pondered this, the more God showed me some things.

If a person has a passion for alcohol and does not control it, that person is a drunk. If a person has a passion for getting money, we might call them a robber or a multi-millionaire, depending on how they get their money.

What about Christians? Can we apply passion to them?

Some Christians have very little passion for their Savior based on the fact that you might not even know that they asked Jesus to save them from sin. Then there are the Christians that you can tell they are a Christian because of the way they live, dress, act, and talk. Finally there are the Christians that have a strong passion for God, and they rarely miss a chance to talk about God and what He has done for them.

While writing this, the thought came to me about what the Bible states:

I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cord or hot. So then because thou are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Revelation 3:15-16 KJV

The question God asks us is: Are you passionate for Christ your redeemer?

C.I. Wilson

Heavenly Father, I ask Your forgiveness for the times that I did not show my passion for You. I ask for strength and courage to be more like You each day that I live. Jesus, I also ask Your leading for a closer walk for each person who reads this. Amen.
