You Shall Live

3/14/2019

Psalm 118:17 KJV        I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.

Father, in the name of Jesus, we declare that we shall live and not die. We will declare the works of the Lord all the days of our life. Your Word says that withlong ife You will satisfy us. ThankYou, Lord, for health and wholeness all the days of our life. From this day forward we refuse to be intimidated by the enemy. We deliver, for You know everything that concerns us. You are aware of every frailty in our life. Yet You choose to Love us unconditionally. Right now, I receive Your Zoe life in my mortal flesh. Never again will we yield to the evi report of the enemy, but we will set our eyes and hope on You. In Your name we will overcome every sickness, disease, infirmity, or hindrance. Amen!

To Be More Like Rahab

Joshua 2:12-21 (KJV)
12  Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the LORD, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father's house, and give me a true token:
13  And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.

------------

18  Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father's household, home unto thee.

------------

21  And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.

Now Rahab lived in a house on the walls of Jericho. Rahab was a “harlot” and she had prestige and most likely money because not everyone was allowed to have a house on the walls of cities. Because it was on the wall of the city, we know that the walls were at least eight feet thick. We know that she had at least two brothers and two sisters. How big was her house? The Bible does not state how big, however we know it was big enough to hold over seven people.

Now what stood out to me as I was reading this passage of scriptures is in the twenty-first verse, “. . . and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.” She did not wait for the battle to begin she did it as soon as they had left. In my mind, she drew enough of the line in and left a small amount hanging outside the window.

Today, when most people petition God (pray for something) they say “Amen” and go on with their lives. Rahab received a “if you do this” answer and she did not put it off until the battle began. The Bible states she bound the line then. After binding the line, I imagine that she started preparing her home for a family get together.

She most likely cleaned house and got rid of a lot of clutter because she had to make room for her family to stay indefinitely. She did not know how the battle was to be fought or how long it would last. Therefore, she most likely stocked up on food and water to last. Then, I imagine, at the first sign of the Israelites she invited her family to come. How many came, the Bible does not say.

We need to be more like Rahab. When we pray, we need to prepare for the answer from the time we say “Amen” until the answer arrives. We need to do our part, whatever that is, then leave the rest to God. Most people have a tendency to leave it all on God’s shoulder, and then wonder why the answer we get is not the way we want it to be and or the easy way.

We had to reschedule our meeting because of snow and weather conditions. We had 9 Ladies in attendance. Our speaker Sis Pat Markum was ill so Sis Ruff spoke on “Doing the Right Thing the Wrong Way.” 1 Chronicles 13: 1-9. The people all agreed and made a new cart to carry the Ark on. The man touched the ark and died. David became angry with God.

Then he had a change of heart and followed the instructions of God. 1 Chronicles 15:1-3 We see where David built a place for the Ark and said Only the Levites may carry the Ark because The Lord chose them to carry the Ark and minister. We do the right thing the right way and we will have the blessings of God bestowed upon us.

After some ladies spoke and we prayed for Sis Harla and prayer for others. The Holy Spirit ministered to Sis Harla in a mighty way with a Word.

The progress of the Conference in October was updated, while praying for God’s will in this conference.

We then dismissed in prayer.

                           1 Chronicles 13:1-9 (NKJV)
1  Then David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader.
2  And David said to all the assembly of Israel, "If it seems good to you, and if it is of the LORD our God, let us send out to our brethren everywhere who are left in all the land of Israel, and with them to the priests and Levites who are in their cities and their common-lands, that they may gather together to us;
3  and let us bring the ark of our God back to us, for we have not inquired at it since the days of Saul."
4  Then all the assembly said that they would do so, for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.
5  So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor in Egypt to as far as the entrance of Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjath Jearim.
6  And David and all Israel went up to Baalah, to Kirjath Jearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up from there the ark of God the LORD, who dwells between the cherubim, where His name is proclaimed.
7  So they carried the ark of God on a new cart from the house of Abinadab, and Uzza and Ahio drove the cart.
8  Then David and all Israel played music before God with all their might, with singing, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on cymbals, and with trumpets.
9  And when they came to Chidon's threshing floor, Uzza put out his hand to hold the ark, for the oxen stumbled.

Being specific in prayer.

Genesis 24:12-14 (KJV)

12  And he said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham.
13  Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water:
14  And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master.

Years ago, I heard my husband preach a sermon on “When you pray – be specific.” I was reminded of that when I read the servant’s prayer in Genesis 24. So many time Christians never get specific when they place their petition, or prayer, before God, while this may be good at times, however not all the time. There are so many times we should pray for specific things.

Have you ever needed a job and have prayed and prayed for one in a general way. Like; “Lord, I need a job.” Times passes, and still no job so you start thinking, “God doesn’t answer my prayers.” Try praying specifically as in; “Lord, I need a job now so that I can support my family.” Here you have let the Lord know that you need it now, a time frame, and the reason why you need the job now.

When my husband preached this sermon there was a man in the church that had been looking for a job for several weeks. That day he prayed with a specific purpose and the next day he had a choice of three jobs.

Now God may not answer your prayer that way, however you can expect an answer. Just remember that when we pray we need to make sure all is right between us and God, that we are asking in accordance to God’s will for our lives.
