The Jelly Bean Prayer

2/26/2018

Red is for the blood He gave.

Green is for the grass He Made.

Yellow is for the sun so bright.

Orange is for the edge of night.

Black is for the sins we made.

White is for the grace He gave.

Purple is for His hour of sorrow.

Pink is for our new tomorrow.

A bag full of jelly beans colorful and sweet,

Is a prayer, is a promise, is a special treat.

The above prayer is one that symbolizes that prayers can be in many styles and subjects. It show that there are as many different prayers as there are people, needs, desires, and hopes. If there was only one way of praying then we would all be lost because we all came to the Lord in our own way with our own sinns. It also let us know that we can pray one prayer for many different things.

If you start a small child praying, like the one below, he will then learn, by your example, how to pray in other ways and for other things. So do your children and others a service and pray before them as well as in your prayer closet. They learn by our example.

Now I lay me down to sleep,

Now I pray the Lord my soul to keep.

If I should die before I wake,

I pray the Lord my soul to take. Amen.

Love God with all your heart

  Judges 16:15 (KJV)
And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth.

We know the story of Samson and Delilah. We know how he turned his back on his people and their traditions and chose a woman form the Philistine Nation. However, it never stood out to me about how he had kept something from her as a sign that he had not totally given himself to her.

Sometimes, we Christians try to keep something hidden from God. We know that God sees all that we do never the less we try to hide it. When we do this, we are not giving 100% of our life to him. Is it because we do not trust him, or love him, or believe that he is able to take care of the problem, or because it is a sin?

Now Delilah stated; how can you say that you love me when you have not given me all of your heart? I wonder if God feels that way about us.

Lord, help us to love you with 100% of our heart, let us not love something or someone more that we love you. Show us when something or someone starts to be more important to us than you are. Amen.

Love the LORD thy God

02/05/2018

Deuteronomy 30:15-20 (KJV)
15  See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;
16  In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.
17  But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;
18  I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.
19  I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
20  That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

These verses given to the Hebrew children; however, they stand true to us today. God has set before us a choice. Do we choose life with God or do we choose death with Satan?

I chose life with God and have be reassured many times through the years that God loves me, no matter what I do. I choose to ask for forgiveness any time that I know, or he shows me, that I have done wrong. By choosing God as my father, Jesus as my brother and the Holy Ghost as my teacher I will never be without their love. God’s love is better than even our earthly mother and father’s love.

Thank you Lord, for loving us; thank you for showing us that love on a daily basis. Help us to show your love to those around us. Amen.

Through Him that loved us

02/04/2018

Romans 8:37-39 (KJV)
37  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39  Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

While doing my devotions I ran across these verses and they stood out. Verse 37 states “we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” then John 3:16 tells us who this “him” is. It states “For God so loved the world,” that is “us.” That makes us know that we are more than conquerors through God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost.

We are so loved that God sent his son knowing the price he would have to pay. Then Jesus loved us enough to be willing to come down here and face what we have to face on a daily basis, just because he loved us. The Holy Ghost because he loved us, shared the sacrifice of the other two by being willing to come and help us in our daily lives.

Then in verse 38-39, it tells us of what can separate us from that love. Only we can separate us from the Triune Godhead. This list is a powerful tool to weld against the Devil when he starts testing our faith. If we remember these verses, we will know that God is able to deliver us because we are his blood washed children and he loves us.

"Thou shalt love the LORD"

2/3/2018

Deuteronomy 6:4-5 (KJV)
4  Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
5  And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Man has stated we will set aside a day to celebrate love. Here in Deuteronomy 6:5 we find who our first love should be. If we can do what this verse states, love God with all that we are. How wonderful our life would be. We might not have wealth, fame, or friends here on this earth; however, we would be happier and have a peace in our soul that no one, which does not love God with their whole being, cannot understand.

As we celebrate during this month of love, we all need to share the love of God with all that we meet. If they are family, love them. If they are neighbors, love them. If they are people who dislike you, love them. If they are someone that has done you wrong, love them. It matters not who they are or what they have done, we are to show the love of Christ to them.

Heavenly Father, this is the first day of the rest of our lives and I ask that you show us how to spread your love that you have given to us to those around us; so that they might see you in us and desire to meet you and live for you. Give us the strength and courage to show your love to those that do not like us, so they can see you in us.

Thank you, Lord, for loving us, enough that you made a way for us to feel your love in a very real way. Amen.
