The Joy of the Lord

10/16/2022

While listening to the Bible this week I heard Psalm 51 and verses 10-14 stuck with me. We need to follow King David’s example. After he had sinned and God sent a prophet to show him that God saw his sin, King David repented, and this is the part that has stuck with me.

Verse 10 states “Create in me a clean heart, O God; And renew a right spirit within me.” This could be a prayer for every morning of our lives. We need God to create in us a clean heart and a right spirit within us on a daily, and on some days an hourly right spirit. This world has so many different opinions being spread that goes against God’s Word that it is hard for many young Christians to keep a “clean heart” and a “right spirit.”

For those who get caught up in the pressures of our lives, King David wrote in verse 12: “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; And uphold me with thy free spirit.” When things cave in on us, we need that joy that we had when we first gave our hearts to God. It matters not how many times you need to pray for that joy to be restored. What matters is that we ask and God answers.

When we show the joy of our salvation, then we can be the witness of God’s love and it will cause people to want to follow God.

Psalm 51:10–13 (KJV)

10Create in me a clean heart, O God; And renew a right spirit within me.

11Cast me not away from thy presence; And take not thy holy spirit from me.

12Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; And uphold me with thy free spirit.

13Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; And sinners shall be converted unto thee.

Dear Heavenly Father, restore unto Your Children the joy of their salvation so they might lead others to you. Give us the strength to face the situations in our lives in such a way that others might see You. Amen.
