Go quickly and tell

In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
Matthew 28:1-9
Here we see two women that went to complete their need concerning Jesus. Matthew does not record why they went just that they went. While Mark and Luke states that they went to anoint Him because they did have time to do this when He was crucified (gave His life for our sins). They wanted to do what was done to all that die; anoint the body with spices. They wanted to serve Him one last time. Little did they comprehend what they would find.
When the soldiers saw the angels passed out or fainted, however the followers of Jesus knew more about the Heavenly Beings. The women saw the angel and asked a question or made a statement about seeing Jesus. He invited them to see the place where they had put Him, just days before. The thing that stood out to me was “come, see the place . . . and go quickly.” They departed quickly, they did not stay and speculate on what they saw; they followed the directions of the angel.
What would happen in today’s world if all the true, born again, covered in the blood of Jesus, Christians would follow the directions that the Bible gives to us and the ones that we receive from God, our Father. They went and did. Most Christians today stay and debate with themselves and those around about the reason or meaning of the direction / command.
Let us strive to be more like the women at the tomb. Let us hear and go do what the Lord wants us to do.
