"For what saith the scripture?"

Today, I read an article dated 2/11/2021 from Lifeway research about “Same-Sex Marriage” and how the opinions of some “pastors” have changed over the last decade. They broke it down to three groups: All Protestant pastors, Mainline, and Evangelical. Now I was raised that “Thus saith the Lord” deals with every verse in the Bible and therefore if the Bible states something is wrong then all pastors should be against it.

The other day in my Bible reading I ran across Romans 4:3a which states: “For what saith the scripture?” We are to pattern our lives after the Bible, God’s Holy Word. If we have any questions or doubts, then we are to go to the Bible and see what it says on the matter. Now I know that in some areas, there is no black and white, yes or no to be found. Then we have this area where we find a yes or no, black and white type of answer.

25Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 28And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
