When you accept Jesus into your life you have a new job.

The Lord showed me something the other day how it would seem to a new Christian. Taking into consideration that when Jesus comes into our life. He gives us a new job, to win the lost for Him. Using our imagination, we have this scenario:

Tom has just become a pharmacist and is opening up his “Life for Christ Pharmacy” in a new building. Everything is brand new. His first day of business at opening time he walks into his store and hears the phone ringing, someone wants information on a drug. He cannot look it up anyway except on his phone. Finally, he tells the customer the answer, then realizes that it was a good thing that they did not need a prescription filled because there is nothing on the shelves. He is feeling completely overwhelmed, out of his comfort zone, sinking in over his head.

The front door opens and someone walks in and offers to help. When Tom accepts this help he has accepted more than just someone to carry boxes in and stock the shelves. H.G. is starting to make changes in Tom’s store. When Tom turns around, he sees that things have changed. The walls are painted, shelves have medicine, and the office has supplies, so it changes all day long. Until by the end of the day Tom’s pharmacy is fully stocked and he has all the medicine that anyone would ask for. H.G. is happy, Tom is happy and all the customers are happy.

How does this compare to a new Christian? Let us look and compare.

Tom accepts Jesus as his Savior, and Jesus’ blood washes away all the “old” things in Tom’s life; he is a new man. Everything is new. Jesus has given him his “new” profession; to be a worker for Christ. When Tom started out he had no “tools” of the trade, he had no supplies so he is starting out with bare walls and shelves. He is struggling to meet his customer’s needs. Tom needs to spend some time preparing which includes praying, studying the Bible and learning more about Jesus. He is functioning and doing his best, however, he still is lacking something.

Then Tom accepts the Holy Ghost into his life. Then things start happening and he is able to witness more, talk about Jesus more and meet the spiritual needs of those he meets. Tom is fulfilling the plan that God has for him without having to struggle so much.

This is a job that we accept gladly and the longer we have it the better it gets.
