Dangers facing ministers

Last night I was watching the news when a segment came up about some people whose whole life was changed because of some Priest in their past. Then today while going through my email and article caught my attention. "4 Dangers Facing Pastors" by Mark Dance (see website at bottom of article). It struck a cord with me. We, as church members, pastors, pastor's spouses, and association members need to protect the ministers in our lives with our prayers and thoughtfulness.

Many years ago as a young minister's wife I made a lot of mistakes as most young people do, however, the one that has stuck with me the most is the one where I listened to someone that made me "jealous" over an incident between my husband and another minister. This has reminded me over the years that we cannot and must not listen and take to heart what others say be it family or friend. We have to keep our eyes upon our Heavenly Father and his son, Jesus Christ, lest we see things that are not there.

Just as we have to keep a watch over our lives, physical and spiritual, so must we be watchful that we do not put others in a position that might hinder their lives. One of the ways that we can do that for those in positions of authority over us is by prayer. We need to constantly pray for our ministers, their families and their chuch members.

Our minister's are human just like we are and they can make mistakes just like we can, however, it is easier not to make mistakes when you have people praying for you for protection and wisdom. Let us take the time to do the godly thing of praying for them everyday and then again when God places them on our hearts.
