31st Annual Campmeeting - Day 5
2/22/2018
This year’s Camp Meeting has come to a close. For those who missed it, we missed you. For those who came, even if it was for one service, we were glad to see you. God will bless you if you came or not, however you will not get another chance to receive a blessing from the services you miss. And this year we had some good ones. If you like long winded preachers, we had some. If you like preachers that get to the point of what God is trying to say and say it, we had some. If you like some good old-fashioned songs we had some, however we also had some newer choruses for those who like to keep up with the leading trends. God had something for each of us and I am sure you would have enjoyed being here.
Last Friday was the last day and in the morning service we heard from two of our Board members, Brother Bob Harrison and Brother David Wilson. We heard words of wisdom and encouragement from both about living for God then they blessed our souls with song. Everyone on in the morning service was allowed to sing God’s praises with specials and God moved.
For our closing service Friday evening after being refreshed with singing and praising God, Brother Wingrove asked Brother Finney to finished the sermon that he had started on Thursday night. His text was taken from: Esther 4:12-14 (KJV) 12 And they told to Mordecai Esther's words. 13 Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews. 14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
God put us here, today, in this situation for a reason. We are the ones that God wants to do the job that is set before us and if we do not do as God wants then we like Esther and her family, if she had not done the will of God, will be destroyed. However, if we like Esther do what God wants us to do will be remembered by God when we come before him and he will tell us, “Well done.”
Just like Esther in the Bible we need to do some praying and even some fasting for the strength, wisdom and yes even courage to do God’s will. Esther requested that her people the remnant of the Jewish nation, fast and pray for her for three days and nights then she also had her servant in the palace do the same. Can we not fast more than we do, if she and her people could do it day and night for seventy-two hours?
While she was praying, God gave her directions on what to do, and she did them, and God made the way for the Jewish nation to survive that order of destruction. Do we listen to hear from God when we pray, Esther did?
Brother Finney went on and stressed how important it is to pray. Not just at home but at church and throughout our day. He gave us a challenge which I am passing on to you: Tithe your time as well as your finances. If you tithe your time then you would spend two hours and twenty-four minutes every day praying and studying the Bible. Now Brother Finney did not put a time factor into his challenge, however if after you have done this for one week or seven days and you do not see an improvement in your relationship with God, then try it for another week. God will bless and enrich your witness, testimony and faith if you accept this challenge.
