Keep our eyes on God

Isaiah 17:7-8 (KJV)
7 At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.
8 And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images.
This is talking about the end times. However, is it not true for today? This is the day that we should look to our Maker. If we wake-up each morning and look toward our Heavenly Father with respect, reverence and with thanksgiving. Then we can know peace and contentment however, if we do not look toward God than we have our spiritual eyes on the wrong thing.
When we take our eyes off God and put them on the things around us then we lose sight of the most important thing in our lives. I believe this is one of the reasons that God gave the commandment found in Exodus 20:4-5. (4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;) We need to keep our eyes, thoughts and desires focused on God and reaching our heavenly home.
