The Jelly Bean Prayer

2/26/2018

Red is for the blood He gave.

Green is for the grass He Made.

Yellow is for the sun so bright.

Orange is for the edge of night.

Black is for the sins we made.

White is for the grace He gave.

Purple is for His hour of sorrow.

Pink is for our new tomorrow.

A bag full of jelly beans colorful and sweet,

Is a prayer, is a promise, is a special treat.

The above prayer is one that symbolizes that prayers can be in many styles and subjects. It show that there are as many different prayers as there are people, needs, desires, and hopes. If there was only one way of praying then we would all be lost because we all came to the Lord in our own way with our own sinns. It also let us know that we can pray one prayer for many different things.

If you start a small child praying, like the one below, he will then learn, by your example, how to pray in other ways and for other things. So do your children and others a service and pray before them as well as in your prayer closet. They learn by our example.

Now I lay me down to sleep,

Now I pray the Lord my soul to keep.

If I should die before I wake,

I pray the Lord my soul to take. Amen.
